Rumours are swirling in Ottawa that star defenseman Kris Letang is potentially available for trade. The Grinders had Stanley Cup aspirations as UHL season 38 started, but unfortunately things haven't gone as planned this season.
"We thought with the core of our team in place, the Grinders were in a position to compete for a championship this season" Grinders GM Scott Davies said on Monday. "Unfortunately, the team hasn't played as well as we'd hoped. Stars Bo Horvat and Jakub Voracek have delivered as expected. We went out and added key players this past offseason in Cam Fowler, Henrik Lundqvist & Gustav Nyquist thinking that could put our squad over the top, but it simply hasn't worked out."
Davies wouldn't comment on specific players being available via trade, but the sense around Ottawa if that the team doesn't soon start to string together a winning streak, pending UFA's including star defenseman Kris Letang, responsible veteran Mikael Backlund and checkers Colton Sissons & Cedric Paquette could be soon on the move for future assets.
